Caretakers Full Walkthrough: Completing a Round From Lobby to Exit
A complete Caretakers walkthrough for one full round: set your lobby loadout, read your personal task list, clear every objective minigame, survive Bon and escape through the exit gates step by step.
A full round of Caretakers always has the same shape: up to eight players spawn into the facility with personal maintenance task lists, work through their objectives while staying quiet around the AI animatronic Bon, and leave through the emergency exit gates once they power up — and the gates only let you through if your own list is finished. Here is each step in order, from lobby prep to crossing the exit threshold.
1. Set your loadout in the lobby
Preparation happens between rounds. In the lobby you can spend earned cash (or Robux) in the shop on tools and character perks, then build your loadout: gear such as the Entity Mask goes into a gear slot, and you pick perks and emotes on top. Check the gear list for what each item does, and see how to equip gear if the loadout menu is unclear.
2. Read your task list the moment you spawn
Your tasks are shown in the top-left corner of the screen, and the list is personal — every player gets a distinct set, and it changes each round. One run might ask you to unlock safes and collect two documents, restore comms and stabilize pressure; another might be repair the broadcast, find the tapes, repair the generator. Read it before you wander off, because it defines everything you do next, and you are never required to do other players' tasks.
If you keep losing time hunting for objectives, the Scanner/Radar ($130 cash in the shop) sends out a pulse that highlights active tasks and objective points across the map.
3. Clear your objectives
Which objectives you're assigned depends on the round, but they all come from the same set:
| Objective | What to find | How to complete it |
|---|---|---|
| Unlock Safes & Collect Documents | Grey wall safes | The 4-digit code is printed directly on the safe's front (observed codes include 0640 and 7213) — enter it and grab the documents inside. |
| Hack Terminals | Glowing computer monitors | Hold the interact key to fill the hack progress bar. |
| Restore Comms / Broadcast | Radio equipment | Complete the directional matching or frequency slider calibration minigame. |
| Repair Generators | Damaged generator units | Stop the dial needle directly on the highlighted orange skill-check zone. |
| Find Tapes | Glowing VHS tapes | Pick them up from floors, shelves and counters. |
If Bon interrupts you mid-task, the station usually saves your progress, so you or a teammate can return later and finish it. The objectives guide goes deeper on each task.
4. Handle facility hazards
Mid-round, the facility can throw hazards at you that never appear on your task list: a gas leak or a breaker crisis. Locate the smoking gas tanks or tripping breaker boxes and switch them off before you suffocate, then get back to your list.
5. Survive Bon while you work
Bon hunts by sound, and the game shows it: a noise meter sits near your health display at the bottom of the interface. Running produces loud audio cues that let Bon pinpoint your position through walls, so walk through high-traffic corridors and save sprint stamina for real pursuits.
When a chase does start:
- Lockers are the standard answer. Get inside, watch the oxygen gauge and hold your breath until Bon wanders off. Leaving too early, or running out of oxygen while he's still outside, is an immediate takedown — and players do still get caught in lockers, so treat it as your best option, not a guarantee.
- Doors buy a moment, not safety. Shutting them breaks line of sight and can slow Bon briefly, but he opens closed doors after a short delay — sometimes almost instantly.
- Go low. Crouch or sprint-slide under vents, broken walls and low crawlspaces; Bon can't easily follow you through them.
More on his behavior in the Bon guide, and the survival tips page covers chase habits in depth.
6. If Bon catches you
A catch is not an instant death. You collapse into a downed state with roughly 30-40 seconds before you expire for the round. A standing teammate can pick you up, carry you away from Bon and channel a revive — and completed revives reward cash at the end of the round. If no one is close, an instant self-revive costs 12 Robux or a pre-purchased Revive Shot. Team play changes a lot of this; the multiplayer guide covers roles and revives.
7. Escape through the exit gates
When the main timer counts down — usually 3 to 4 minutes, depending on lobby size and how many objectives have been completed — the emergency exit gates receive power. Then:
- Verify your checklist. If any task on your personal list is unfinished, you're blocked from running through the exit doors. Finishing your list is what makes you eligible to leave; other players' tasks are not your problem.
- Follow the floor arrows. Once the doors unlock, navigation arrows appear on the floor pointing toward the open extract points.
- Cross carefully. Bon often patrols near the extract point during the final 30 seconds. Use an Entity Mask or Taser if you have one equipped, and cross the threshold to secure the win and your cash reward.
The how to escape page breaks down the exit conditions in more detail.
That's the complete loop: loadout, task list, objectives, hazards, noise discipline, revives, and a checked checklist at the gate. If this is your first time in the facility, the beginner guide walks through a first round at a gentler pace.
